Roughly speaking, evaporator and condenser are heat exchange equipment, there is no difference. But in the use of evaporator and condenser is different, the condenser is used to discharge heat, evaporator is used to absorb heat.

This is only from a rough point of view, want to understand the difference between evaporator and condenser, or need to understand what is evaporator, what is condenser.

As I said before, evaporator and condenser are heat exchange equipment. What is heat exchange equipment?

Heat exchange equipment refers to the need to have two or more kinds of fluid with different temperatures, heat transfer between fluids, and heat transfer equipment, is called heat exchange equipment, so evaporator and condenser are heat exchange equipment.

What is an evaporator?

Evaporator is a unit operation that uses heating method to heat the solution containing different substances and non-volatile solutes to boiling, so that part of the solvent vaporizes and is removed at the same time, so as to improve the concentration of the solution in the solvent.

The evaporator is mainly composed of two parts: heating chamber and evaporation chamber. The heating chamber provides the liquid with the heat needed for evaporation, which causes the liquid to boil and vaporize. The evaporation chamber is the part that makes the gas-liquid phase completely separate.

What is a condenser?

Condenser is the mechanical part of the refrigeration system, and also a part of the whole evaporator system. The condenser is mainly used to discharge heat. It can convert gas or steam into liquid, and release heat in a very fast way.

The working process of condenser is an exothermic process. In the evaporation process, the device that converts steam into liquid is also called condenser. All condensers operate by taking away the heat of gas or steam.

The difference between an evaporator and a condenser

From the above concept of evaporator and condenser, it can be seen that the difference between the two is that the condenser is mainly used to discharge heat, and the evaporator is used to absorb heat.

The difference between evaporator and condenser is mainly the difference in the form of work. Evaporator is the medium to absorb heat for vaporization and absorb external heat, while condenser is the equipment to cool the medium and liquefy and release heat.

The evaporator and condenser are also different in structure.

In the evaporator design, the selection design should be carried out according to the evaporation capacity and evaporating material of the whole system.

In the design of condenser, the inlet of different roads should be as close as possible, the outlet should be as close as possible, and the inlet and outlet should be as far away as possible, so as to avoid partial heat transfer loss due to reheating and uneven flow distribution.

In the actual design, if there are more than two branches, the centralized separator and collector should be used to make the flow between different flow paths uniform as far as possible. The pipe lengths of different flow paths should be the same, and should flow evenly through the windward side and the leeward side to make the heat transfer even.

The above is a brief introduction to the difference between evaporator and condenser. The difference between evaporator and condenser is that one is heat release equipment and the other is heat absorption equipment.
